ABOUT LUMINOSIFY PRODUCTS

  • Simply place a torch into one end of the tube and away you go! Using a torch with a clip helps secure it inside the bottom of the Choob. We also recommend using a Choob Hat on your Choob.

  • The torch can be no bigger than 28mm in diamater to fit within our Choobs. It’s likely you’ll have a pocket clip on your torch, which will attach nicely to the outside of the Choob.

We do not currently supply torches (or flashlights depending on where you are from!) but we do hope to do so in the near future.

  • We personally currently have the Nitecore P10 v2 and the Ryu Lightworks torches but those are both on the more expensive side.

Any torch that can achieve about 1000 lumens will be ok (assuming it will fit in the choob) but brightness needs will be dependent on where and when you are planning to shoot.

The reason the recommended torches are more on the costly side is the fact that they have different options available for max brightness and strobe access/functionality.

The Sofirn SP31 v.20 is a decent budget torch with strobe and two switches. In our opinion, the best torch for light painting was the Ryu Lightworks torch, (sold by Light Painting Paradise), as it had a wide range of functions and was designed by light painters - unfortunately this torch was discontinued in early 2023.

There is also an article which has a very useful review of the best torches to use for light painting (and why) and a helpful table summarising which fit our choobs, by Stephen Knight:

    CHECK OUT STEPHEN’S ARTICLE

We've had a look around on Amazon for some of the recommendations from Stephen’s article:

Nightcore P10 v2 (we have this one) - This has strobe function, a tail switch and clip. You can buy a separate pressure switch which can come in handy.

Klarus XT2CR - This has strobe function, a tail switch and clip.

Wukkos TD02 - This has strobe mode, a tail switch and clip.

Some customers have managed to find torches on Amazon (UK) that fit quite cheaply but perhaps are just a bit lacking in lumens ideally.

    // OTHER OPTIONS

Wuben C3 - has strobe function, tail switch and clip.

WUBEN L50 - this has no strobe function (except SOS strobing)

For the budget options listed, we have no light painting reference point as we don't know anyone who uses these, and they aren't reviewed in Stephen’s article.

  • For detailed information click here to read our product guide.

  • Although the Choobs are made with semi-flexible plastic, they will bend or become misshapen under pressure and potentially high winds. Returns will not be possible for products deemed to be damaged due to misuse.

Please note that with use and storage, the tubes will collect dusk and cosmetic wear and tear. In our opinion, this will make the Choobs more unique over time and give additional texture to your images.

  • Please visit our product guide for further information.

  • We are always happy to discuss any bespoke Choob ideas you may have - just send us an email with the details and we’ll get back you as soon as we can - contact us.

  • here a numerous benefits to purchasing one of our Choob Hats.

1 - Limit the amount of light emitted from the end of the Choob whilst painting.

2 - Reflects light back down the Choob increasing its brightness.

3 - Allows the tubes to be easily modified with an extra attachment on to the end of the Choob, such as a sparkler (simply insert a sparkler through the hole in the Choob hat and secure with the supplied clear band).

  • The 40cm Choob Extender is a clear plastic clip on. We recommend using them in the following way:

1 - Clip the extender onto the main Choob
2 - Slide in the Mini-Choob and cover it completely

There is a risk that the Mini-Choob will slide out, so please be careful of passers by!

  • You can use the Mini-Choobs in a variety of ways:

1 - In combination with a 1m Choob, using an Extender
    - Increases the colour combinations possible and/or entends the overall length of the Choob.
    - Use sticker down to create a gap between Choob & Mini-Choob or upside-down to get a seamless transition

2 - In combination with our ‘Dark Matter’ Choob to create a halo/ring effect.

3 - By placing a torch directly into the Mini-Choob for use as a smaller tool.

  • You can clip on the Blinds directly to the Choob. Once on, you can slide them into your chosen position to block out sections of light, to create your desired pattern.

  • Not yet, we have launched our business with a wide range of Choob light painting tubes and accessories. However, as soon as we’re settled we will be working on research & development of new light painting product ranges.
